Syrphid Fly Adult

The syrphid flies can hover in flight for long periods and thus are also known as hover flies. They are commonly found on flowers and may vary greatly in color and size, but most are yellow with dark bands on the abdomen. While they may resemble wasps or bees, they do not sting.

Detailed information on the one syrphid fly predator is available on the Featured Creatures Web site at http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/beneficial/hover_fly.htm
