Eastern Lubber Grasshopper

The adult eastern lubber grasshopper, Romalea Guttata (Houttuyn), with its vivid markings and large size, is better known than the black nymph illustrated. Neither nymphs nor adults are capable of flight. They are common pests on citrus and landscape plants, especially on daylilies. Lubbers are an important source of food for birds and other wildlife.
