The hawthorne lace bug, Corythucha cydoniae (Fitch). Adults are 1/8 inch long with large brown areas on the wing. The antenna and legs are yellow. The nymphs are a dirty-brown color. There is one generation per year and they overwinter as adults under leaf litter, loose bark or other objects.
Common host plants: Selectively attacks a variety of woody, rosaceous plants. It has been found on crabapple, hawthorne, loquat, oak, pear, pyracantha and quince. In Florida, the hawthorne lace bug's principal host is pyracantha.
